I think I’m pretty much feeling the exact same way as Eydis in this page. Tired as hell. Doing two comics; this and L.A.W.L.S. is slowly killing my soul… I don’t mind. I’m just beat. Shoot me a vote?
I was always so nervous about having exact change that that was never a problem for me.. and if I didn’t have change for the bus.. i wouldn’t even consider the bus. Luckily I had my truck while i was living there too… else that wouldn’t have been a possibility.
And thanks.. that bus was a bitch to draw put together.
dude, your art is really getting great! Just the simple *real* facial expressions are outstanding, I really like how you did it today Especially panel 2
Thank you, that means a lot. I’ve always been envious of how natural drawing faces is to you. Thanks to LAWLS though I’ve been getting TONS of practice drawing expressions.. so it’s seemed to pay off now. Panel 3 is probably my favorite expression out of them all.. probably because its the most expressive, or at least has the most dramatic expression out of the bunch.
I LOVE traveling on the bus, there are sooooo many interesting people to just sit and watch. One time i watched a dude brush his face with a large hair brush.. i mean it was obvious he was trying to just brush his beard out.. but he’d start just below his eyes and brush his skin a few inches before even touching the beard. It was REALLY humorous to watch.
It’s a lot less fun if you’re a female and those men sit next to you, say creepy things, smell terrible, encroach on your personal boundaries, are obviously mentally unstable, AND/OR are quite clearly on drugs of some kind. It also stops being funny when you’ve almost been stabbed by one of these people.
Atlantic City. I don’t live there, but that’s where I was when I almost got stabbed. I used to take the train to AC and then the bus to school every Sunday night (and the bus then the train to my parents’ house every Friday). This dude who was high as hell (probably on speed or PCP or something like that) started screaming about “These Jersey N——” (dude was also black, so it was really weird) and swaying around. I didn’t really have anywhere to go. It was packed and I had a duffel bag with my laptop in it that I couldn’t just leave. Dude pulls out a knife and seconds later falls on me. Knife misses me by inches- gets lodged into the seat. THEN he was tackled and subdued.
Atlantic City is crazy dangerous if you’re not immediately in the outlets or casino district.
Oh, well at least he didn’t just blatantly attack you trying to steal your computer or something. That would have been super scary. One time i visited San Fransisco and I had a simular thing happen to me… some black guy followed me around yelling he was “the real San Fransisco N****” He got got right up in me and my girlfriend(at the time)’s face screaming how he wants to kill white people. Pretty intimidating. I think all cities have their creepers.
Thanks! Seriously i sat and stared at the facial expressions (while i waited ten minutes at least each time I was saving) and I was blown away by how far I’ve come.. It’s unfortunate i wasn’t this confident with my drawings back when i did the creeper barisita strip. OH WELL!
LOL her eyes say everything!! does anyone wake up and think “yay i get to ride the bus today!” …i think ive meet that guy. he’s always chillin on University way next to a jack in the box! im never sure if he want money, beer, crack, or dog food. but i know its one of those!
Haha, wow. I know a few people who like to take the bus though. My friend Ian for instance love the bus, walking, and taking alternative modes of transportation to get around. I don mind the bus either.. I just mind paying for it.
When I lived in Portland, OR I was all about the bus – I took it almost everywhere and never had any really bad experiences. Then again, Portland has a pretty good bus system and makes it fairly easy to use the transit system. When I moved back home to Montana, then eventually (after another 3 years of University in North Dakota) to the Mini Apple (Minneapolis, MN) I tried using the bus there, but it was not a very good bus service – routes were pretty much “rush hour a.m. into downtown, rush hour p.m. out of downtown” and anything else was really inconvenient. It’s much the same here in Athens, GA – if I want to go downtown, first I have to hop a bus going in the OPPOSITE DIRECTION, then catch a bus about 3 miles up the road going into downtown, a transfer for which I have to wait about 1/2 hour. It’s really ridiculous. And they wonder why no one takes advantage of the bus service. *sigh*
Wow.. You’ve moved A LOT! I’ve only gone from Southern California to Northern California to Seattle.. then back. I miss living in Seattle. The bus system there was fantastic, here in LA its piss poor.. and i hate that.
First of all: Street scene with the bus you drew=flippin’ sweet. And yeah, the few times that I’ve been on the bus I’ve had a couple encounters like that. Gotta love it.
You win the SUPER-DUPER, UBER-WUNDERBAR TERRIFIC award for using the proper plural spelling of “bus”! From now on, you get to go “nyah” to everyone who misspells it, and especially look upon city signs and fast food signs that are misspelled with disdain. You are among the privileged. Enjoy your elite status!
Loving the comic! I’ll be voting each day (I put all my voting links in a separate bookmark folder and open them all once per day to vote – saves me time and helps me to remember to vote for everyone!)!
Thanks! I try super-duper hard to make sure that I get all my grammar and spelling correct in my comic; I went through a phase where i miss spelled stuff on every post, and people started to point it out.. and I realized it made me sound retarded. SOOOO I take the extra time on each page of both of my comics to read, re-read and re-re-read to insure there isn’t errors… sucky thing is.. occasionally a few slip in. ><
Thank you SOOO much for you're votes, your comments and you're readership. It is VERY much appreciated. :] …and sorry it took me a while to see this comment. Sometimes I miss comments on older pages; but either way I always hunt them down just to make sure no comment is left unread.I appreciate the comments and the time you took to write them, so I take the time to comment back.
This is why I dislike buses.
I do like trains though.
They go at a more constant velocity, you also get to watch people but they leave you alone, you have room to take put your bags and take out your laptop, you see (disgusting) wastelands pass by, … I would spend a whole day on a train if I could. (Technically, I can, but i’ts a bit expensive and the sanitary facilities aren’t that great.)
My best “strange encounters” where on a train or in a station, too.
Lucky she had exact change, Seattle bus drivers are not forgiving about that sort of thing.
That bus looks way too good to be a drawing….I continue to hate you.

You know that if the fare is $2.75 and you throw in $3 that the driver won’t mind, right
Psh, I aint giving the public transportation system anymore money then I HAVE too! That’s absurd… $0.25 extra? PSH!

This comic is about me!
(or at least it could have been given my many horrendous experiences of regularly traveling via public transit)

Wait.. someone ACTUALLY tried stabbing you? Where the fuck do you live? New York City?

Wow man, best page yet. So honest, so true..
Thanks… this is my favorite page to date, as well. I’m excited to see how my art will shape as the more active/action scenes start to unravel.
I agree with everyone above. My first reaction was just “wow.” Then I laughed as I scrolled down. Great work! [:

OH WELL!
for some reason this is my fav strip yet
LMAO… I WONDER why!?!
